Daddy sat me down and we talked a little while
He saw I'd been crying, the tears were in my eyes
He said People move ahead
They make you feel behind
But that ain't worth your worry
It isn't worth time
Cause in the end
When you wonder how it went
When the road is walked
The time is spent
Don't worry bout the race
Be glad you walked and didn't run
Cause who you are
Isn't something you become
People will grow to be lawyers and things
Some will die beggars
Some were born kings
I've met them all
I know this to be true
None of them will ever
Grow up to be you
None of them will ever
Grow up to be you
People will grow to do the next thing on the news
Anyone could tell you they're everybody's fools
Others may grow just to betheir daddy's pride
Anyone could grow to be
The one you grow to like
Of all of them I say
These few words to you
That no one in the world
Will grow up to be you
Of all of them I say
These few words to you
That no one in the world
Will grow up to be you

Little Jeannie

I stepped outside, barefoot in the rain
Fearing no cloud in the sky
When she saw me there
Without you by my side
The rain, she stopped falling
And started to cry
I put some candles in front of the wind
Remembering this was the day
And the wind was your friend
And he wanted to play
So the wind blew the flame
Of my candle away
And they said "We haven't seen this bad a weather
Since the day that the boat, it drowned in the river"
And I didn't say
What deep down I knew
That the wind and the rain,
They remembered it too
I planned to spend my whole day in bed
No I didn't care much for the light
And seeing just how he was making me sad
Around noon the day
Just turned into night
And they said "We haven't seen these dark a times
Since the day Little Jeannie got lost on the vine"
And I didn't answer cause I know they knew
Little Jeannie was mine
Little Jeannie was you
Little Jeannie was mine
Little Jeannie was you
